Exploring Textiles by Hand Course w/ Fiona Harrington starts March 10th
New to our educational programme for 2016 is Exploring Textiles by Hand. This 6 week course is taught by award-winning textile artist Fiona Harrington.
About the Course
Using a mixture of fabrics, yarns, mixed textiles and household materials, this workshop encourages participants to explore textiles by combining the traditional with the unconventional and develop an innovative approach to making.
Cost: €120
Spaces are limited to 6 people.

This workshop is aimed at those with a creative flair who are interested in exploring surface and texture.
Places are limited to 6 participants to ensure maximum learning.

Learning
Participants will learn a variety of processes including stenciling, basic dye techniques, layering and fabric manipulation as well as a variety of hand stitching. These new skills will be learned through a personal project.
Fiona Harrington
Fiona Harrington is an award winning lace-maker and textile artist. Fiona graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Crawford, Cork and Textile Design from NCAD. She has also trained with Kenmare Lace and Design Centre learning traditional Irish lace techniques including Carrickmacross and Kenmare Needlepoint. She received a number of prestigious awards including the Thomas Dammann Bursary, the RDS Graduate Prize and the Eleanor De La Branchardiere Award for innovation in Lace Design.
