Critical II: Electric Boogaloo – The Workshop | Robby Collins & Radical Design Research

Following on from our last Introduction to Critical Design talk, Rob Collins is returning with the first in a series of workshops around the concepts of Critical, Adversarial and Participatory Design for artists, makers and designers.

When?
Sunday 19th March
4pm – 8pm

Where?
A4 Sounds
St Joseph’s Parade
Off Upper Dorset Street
Dublin 1

What?
In this workshop, we will be looking at Critical Design as an approach for artists and makers to refine their responses to contemporary issues and concerns.

After a quick refresher on new approaches to design – including Critical, Adversarial, Political and Speculative Design – we will address the concerns which came out of the original seminar and see how they have changed and/or grown over the past few months.

Next, we will generate ideas and responses using design approaches and explore the actors and stakeholders involved in these issues.

We will then look at fast-prototyping methods to get an idea of how these responses will work in the real world and how and how to make them more effective.

Finally, we will explore our own version of ‘Fake News’ using Speculative Design approaches and try to create another future with better outcomes to move towards.

Who?
All are welcome and please feel free share this event with anyone who might be interested.

No prior design, technical or creative experience is required. Just an open mind and a sense of adventure.

This will be the first in a series of workshops exploring design approaches and critical making.
