Our newest member Jason Kearney’s exhibition: Welcome To Heterotopia: Pasted Pixels Of Contemporary Collage opens April 24th

We are excited to have Jason Kearney join our new studio, his work is fantastic!

If you are in Dublin this Thursday hit up his fist solo exhibition; Welcome To Heterotopia: Pasted Pixels Of Contemporary Collage at the Twisted Pepper. It’s going to be great!

“The exhibition will be officially opened with a talk by Sean Hillen, without a doubt the most influential Irish artist that has worked with photomontage.

Heterotopia is a concept in human geography elaborated by philosopher Michel Foucault to describe places and spaces that function in non-hegemonic conditions. These are spaces of otherness, which are neither here nor there, that are simultaneously physical and mental, such as the space of a phone call or the moment when you see yourself in the mirror.

Jason Kearney situates himself in the spectrum of contemporary collage by manipulating pixels over paste and photoshop over paper to create surreal digital collage.

Appropriating his pieces from a wide range of source material that spans movements, continents and centuries he uses and seduces the digital medium to juxtapose characters, objects and landscapes. In doing so, he creates narratives that the original artists would have never dreamed to have existed.”

This exhibition will run until May 31st

Wolf Visuals Now On Vimeo!

Sketch193232923

We have uploaded all the Wolf Visuals from our Wolf Party to Vimeo so you can have a gawk!!

Due to a massive power cut in the Dark Horse on the Night we could not show any of them. Even after a few hours changing fuses and calling in an electrician we could just get power from a few sockets 😦

We will do it again with sillier visuals for our next fundraiser. Thanks to Maeve Brosnan and Lisa Crowne we have lots of brightly coloured and glittered T.VS ready to go!!

Thanks again to Wolfgang NoesArt;  Pauliina Jokenin, Maeve Brosnan, Donal Holland and Lisa Crowne for putting together the animations. I think you will agree you can’t tell who works in the industry and those that maybe just winged it the week before!!

Special Thanks to everyone that sent us wolf images

Support DabbledooMusic’s Fundit Project

Fundit18

Our lovely Killian Redmonk and Shane Mc Kenna, Trevor Finnegan and Brian-Michael Thornton of DabbledooMusic have a Fund:it project at the minute to create an interactive website to help schools, teachers, community groups and parents make music with children. Their approach is hands on, collaborative and fun so we at A4 Sounds are extremely excited and very much encourage you to support them if they can.

“At DabbledooMusic we are all about music. Music for listening, music for dancing, music for playing and music for working. Music for collaboration, creativity and music learning. DabbledooMusic aims to encourage more music making for children in the classroom and at home by creating a new system of online, interactive music education.

Dabbledoomusic is a multimedia musical experience for young music makers, combining words, illustration, sound, performance and animation. The project is the result of a collaboration between music maker Shane Mc Kenna and visual artist Killian Redmonk with help from graphic designer Trevor Finnegan and tech whiz Brian Michael Thornton. It aims to make music more accessible and fun for children and teachers alike, through free online musical activities.

Dabbledoomusic uses a unique system of colour-coded, animated musical notation. Unlike conventional notation this system is designed to encourage people of all musical backgrounds and levels of experience to participate through collaborative performance and composition.

The next step in making this system accessible and engaging for all users is to create a new website to replace the blog which now exists. The new resources will be fully interactive so that teachers and children in schools can create and compose their own animated musical scores for listening and performing. The website will remain free for all users.

The funding will go towards:
– Designing and creating a new range of interactive audio-visual content.
– Optimizing the website for use with interactive whiteboards in schools.
– Testing the new content in schools with children and teachers.
– Hosting website and online network for teachers and students to record and share compositions and performances.

We are looking for your contribution to help our team create new and innovative online resources for music education in Ireland and around the world. We believe this is the most effective and relevant way to teach music in primary schools and with your help its about to get even better.

The money raised will go directly to the design and construction of the new website and the creation of interactive resources.

This project is one which we are fully committed to and your contributions will be used with our full effort and our thanks.”

If you missed the first call out’ Matt is looking for people to email him an interesting photograph of themselves, from any angle or in any position. He is aiming for 100 images in total which he will then draw, ink or paint in a range of style which will be exhibited in September. Sales from the exhibition will be in aid of the A4 Sounds Studio in Harold’s Cross.

“I’m going to spend 30 seconds on some, maybe an hour on others so hopefully there will be a fairly wide spectrum. Some of them might actually be alright, a lot of them will more than likely be dodgy as fuck. Buts that’s grand.”

Rules for submissions;

No crap selfies please.
No pictures of you scoring a goal for your local Under11′s team, taken by your dad, you get the idea.
A picture you took especially for this project, sitting down, standing up, profile, whatever you think really.

You can email photos to mhedigan19@gmail.com.
