Member Workshop ¦ Joomchi Décollage: Experimental Paper & Fibre – with Ross Clancy ¦ Dead Room

Date & Time:

24 September, 2026 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

ABOUT

An introduction to the Korean paper-making technique of Joomchi and its relationship to décollage and Irish traditions of rag-paper and textile-making. Participants will learn how to transform layers of mulberry paper through wetting, rubbing and tearing the fibres to create a textured, textile-like surface. They will explore layering, joining and removing sections of paper to develop their own Joomchi décollage compositions. Participants will leave with a completed collage and an understanding of the basic techniques needed to continue working with Joomchi independently.

This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in paper, collage, textiles, printmaking or experimental making. No previous experience with Joomchi or collage is required, and the workshop is open to beginners as well as artists and makers looking to explore new approaches to working with paper and fibre.

Number of Participants: 8*

*We will need to reach a minimum requirement of 6 participants to run this workshop.
