FACILITIES TRAINING | DARKROOM NAVIGATION FOR BEGINNERS WITH LUCY CARRICK

This two-day workshop is a brief introduction to the darkroom for beginners with interest in experimenting with film photography and darkroom processes. Over the two days we will cover basics of these facilities including: darkroom safety, b&w negative development, photographic printing, and scanning. Bringing some pre-shot rolls of black and white film is encouraged as this is what will be used to demonstrate the processes. If you don’t have access to a camera for this to be possible, please let us know. Breakdown of each session: Session 1: Health and safety ,chemical prep, negative development and handling, scanning. Session 2: Printing on photographic paper using an enlarger, developing and fixing images.

Members who are interested in using the darkroom facilities. Number of Participants: 3

What do you need? Pre-shot rolls of b&w film if you have some. All other materials will be provided.

Participants will become familiar with the basics of darkroom processes, and the specificities of our darkroom space to enable them to use it independently and safely in the future.

Facilitator Bio:

Lucy Carrick, is a multidisciplinary artist, Graduated from NCAD with a BA in Fine Art Media. Working primarily in film photography and darkroom processes for over 5 years.

Skillsharing: If you have specific things you would like to learn we suggest practicing the basics on your own time first until you are confident, and then use online tutorials on YouTube or similar to up your skills.

We also encourage you to team up and share skills and tips. You can start a group in ‘Art Gangs’ or use this one to chat, share links and ask questions!
