IN CAHOOTS WITH THE EARTH | 2nd – 19th Dec 2021
A4 Sounds Gallery & Digital Broadcast

A4 Sounds would like to invite you to propose work for our upcoming exhibition as part of our We Only Want the Earth Programme in December 2021.

The exhibition will be in two parts, an in gallery exhibition and broadcasted exhibition. We invite you to submit your idea for consideration to one of the strands by Tuesday 10th August, 6pm.

About We Only Want the Earth

We are living through a time of sudden and unpredictable societal change caused by interlinked issues of global warming, the collapse of the neoliberal order, a resurgence of violent misogyny and nationalism, growing inequality, housing and homelessness crises, and the growth of ecofascism. The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warns that we have until 2030 to overhaul society in order to mitigate some of the worst effects of climate change. Whether or not we heed this warning, broad social changes will accelerate over the coming decade.

During 2020 & 2021 we have been facilitating a programme of socially-engaged arts activities under the theme We Only Want the Earth. The programme is intended as a broad conversation about the goals and strategies of social change: what kind of society do we want and how should we get there?

We invite you to conspire with the earth and be bold!

We invite proposals that

  • Seek to disrupt, call attention to or challenge the present
  • Offer alternatives for the future
  • Offer tools for collective reflection and imagining

Proposals can be serious or completely absurd and use a wide range of mediums including but not limited to sculpture, video, powerpoint, radio, performance, textiles, print, intervention, walking or audio tours. The work may be pre existing or a proposal for new work to be made over the coming months.

Throughout the process there will be informal weekly drop in spaces with selected artists to support the  development of new work, ask questions and seek feedback where needed,  and a monthly check in with all artists where we can share updates and artists can discuss their work todate.
