On Wednesday the 25th of June (18:30-19:30) we’ll be kicking off a series of online artist talks by A4 members and invited guests. These will be a great way for you to hear more about their work and process behind the scenes.
These talks will also be open to the public to attend, so please pass the word on to anyone you know that may be interested. 

First up in the series (Wed 25th) is Jamie Gilroy Barrett.

Jamie Gilroy Barrett is a visual artist working with sound, text, installation, drawing and video. His practice explores how meaning, memory and sound drift across boundaries of place and time, engaging with the tacit, the imaginary and the subconscious. Often beginning with overlooked objects or moments of the everyday, his work investigates how narratives – personal, spatial, and collective seep into the material of our surroundings.

Through intuitive processes and site-responsive methods, he works to disrupt linear readings of space and time, offering alternative ways to relate to the both urban and rural environment. His installations often act as subtle interventions that map the leakages, resonances and contradictions that shape our experience of place.

Jamie holds an MFA from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and BA in Fine Art from the National College of Art and Design. His work has been exhibited internationally. He currently works as a technician at Mother’s Tankstation and as an art educator at Crumlin Youthreach. He also releases experimental music under the moniker Heironull.
