A4 Sounds invites artists to propose work for our upcoming exhibition The Cosmos, The Earth & Us as part of our We Only Want the Earth Programme in July 2025.

We Only Want the Earth is a programme of politically and socially engaged arts activities, and is intended as a broad conversation about the goals and strategies of social change: what kind of society do we want and how should we get there?

Requirements
The brief is hosted on google sheets and is best viewed on a computer screen. To view on your phone or tablet you may need to download the google sheets app.
We invite artists to reflect on our brief and propose work which resonates with the theme. We welcome all kinds of proposals using a wide range of mediums. We are particularly interested in works using sound, video, textiles, sculpture, works that have performative or speculative elements and/or works that utilize non traditional art tools. The work may be pre-existing or a proposal for new work to be made over the coming months.

A fee of €300 will be paid per artwork.
Please consider the fee, the value of your time, and longer term impact for your arts practice if proposing new works or works in progress.Â
How to apply:
Please fill out our short application form below.
1. For pre existing works
- Please submit a description of the piece and how it fits the theme of the exhibition.
- Upload documentation of the work
2. For new work & works in progress
- Please submit a description of your proposed idea and how it fits the theme of the exhibition.
- Please submit a brief schedule of how you propose to make the work over the coming months
- Upload up to a max 3 examples of previous work that support your proposed idea.
Applications will be selected by a panel consisting of members of the curatorial team. Applications will be selected by vote using the following criteria:
1) How the proposal responds to the exhibition theme: The Cosmos, The Earth & UsÂ

2) The artistic quality of the submitted artwork
In the case of new works or works in progress:

3) The artistic quality of examples of previous work or work in progress submitted
4) The feasibility of the proposed artwork being completed in the timeframe.
Artists will be informed by email by Friday 9th May
Applications will be confidential and viewed by members of the panel only, Applications will be deleted when the selection process is complete.
A. Proposal Stage

B. Development Phase
Each artist will have at least 1 one-to-one crit in this time via zoom.
2nd Jun: Deadline for Exhibition Texts and Images
All artists to submit information for website and promotional materials
Exhibition Promotion to begin this week.
13th Jun: Deadline for Artworks
Artworks to be dropped to the A4 Sounds Gallery or collected as appropriate
Digital works to be submitted digitally via wetransfer to wowte@a4sounds.org
C. Exhibition Installation & Run
9th – 30th Jun : Exhibition Installation Period
Online and in the gallery
3rd Jul: Exhibition Opening
Drinks reception at the A4 Garden from 6pm.
4th Jul – 3rd Aug: Exhibition Duration
4th – 8th Aug: Deinstall
All works to be collected or returned as appropriate following deinstall.
