I forgot anteaters exist is a series of info-dump sessions allowing us to learn about the world through the special interests of others. Each session invites someone new to come and share their knowledge on a topic of their choosing. It could be related to their usual area of expertise or it could be their current side-quest down the rabbit hole network.

Week 4: EVOLUTION with JORDY SMITH

Friday 23rd Jan 2026 @ 7pm

The story of evolution is more than just gene flow, founder effects, and rates of substitution. This talk is about evolution as biological, social, and political phenomenon. This info dump should satisfy science and history fans alike. We will discuss the theories of evolution as they are understood today and dig into its historical origins, often tied to racist and colonial ideologies, all the while remembering that scientific facts are socially constructed and often wielded – or ignored – for political ends.
