IN CAHOOTS WITH THE EARTH

IN CAHOOTS WITH THE EARTH | GROUP SHOW

It’s hard. Hard to know what to do, or how to do it. Information is everywhere, but you don’t have time to read or think. Wrecked. Who do you ask? Who do you listen to? It’s overwhelming, relentless, unreal.

BUT

There are forces working IN CAHOOTS WITH THE EARTH.

Join Them.

IN CAHOOTS WITH THE EARTH is a group show of members from A4 Sounds, Dublin, Engage Art Studios, Galway and Sample-Studios, Cork. Together these 18 artworks and artefacts from our wider programme offer modes to disrupt and challenge the present; tools for collective reflection and imagining; or propose alternatives for the future.

We invite you to join us both online and offline to conspire with the earth.

Are you interested in rebalancing the inequality and injustice inherent in the concept of private property which lies at the heart of our crumbling housing system? Are you concerned with healing the earth? Have you tried everything and are you willing to try anything?

Job Description
Criadach Construction Corp summons you to build a corp criadach (clay body). Corp Criadachs were constructed by Scottish witches as a way to reclaim power from those that had wronged them. During your shift you will construct a symbol of our unjust housing system from clay, compost, and local wildflower seeds. In doing so you will take back power from the behemoth that is landlordism in Ireland and bring visibility and healing to vacant properties in our locality.

Job Description
Your shift for Witchpaste Inc. will consist of creating the materials to redecorate the crumbing facades of the city. Combining simple elements we will create an adhesive infused with magic, and concoct an invocation on paper for the purpose of wheatpasting. Wheatpasting is a method of reclaiming space, changing your environment, and communicating with others. This communally created witch’s glue will bind invocations onto abandoned buildings, hoardings and boarded up would-be homes.
