The patient will see you now is an interactive installation and one-to-one performance work. Focusing on the inadequacies and farcical nature of accessing healthcare in Ireland, the work questions and exposes bureaucracies that oppress those who fall outside certain definitions of ‘normal,’ ‘valuable’, and ‘productive’.
Áine O’Hara
Áine’s work experiments with form, and focuses on connection, conversation, and care. Their long term ambitions include demanding adequate access to theatre and the arts for disabled and marginalised communities through the creation of large scale, ambitious work as well as the continuation of community building projects like Chronic Chats; a creative and social group for chronically ill people which grew from their research as part of her artist residency. Áine the recipient of our We Only Want the Earth’s Project Award in partnership with Fire Station Artists’ Studio, Dublin Central Housing Action and consulting artist Kerry Guinan. Kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Social distancing measures and your safety:
To ensure the health and safety of visitors to the gallery, our viewing will limit visitors to 1 booking at a time, with a maximum 3 persons from one group to view the installation i.e you may bring 2 friends along to a single booking.
All visitors and staff will follow safety procedures. Our gallery room is approximately 17.5m x 5m with high ceilings and 4 exits (2 accessible by audiences) providing air circulation. Throughout your visit our gallery door will be open with ventilation coming from the front and back of the gallery room.
What you should know before your visit:
- We will ask you to wear a mask indoors. Please bring along your own if possible. If you do not have a mask, you may purchase one with your booking or at the front desk on arrival for €3. You will not be allowed entry to the gallery without a mask.
- A sanitization station will be available at the front desk. We will ask you to sanitize your hands when you arrive.
- We will also take your temperature with a non touch thermometer. If you have a high temperature you will not be admitted to the gallery. You will be asked to return home and to take necessary precautions to keep yourself and others safe.
- We will ask for names and contact information of everyone in your group for contact tracing purposes. This information will remain confidential and will be deleted after 30 days.
