SUMMARY:WOWTE: The Rookery Stories
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n \nWOWTE: The Rookery Stories\nDate & Time:\n26 February\, 2026\n@\n6:30 pm\n–\n8:30 pm \nCategories:\nEvent\, WOWTE | Public Programme \nAbout\nThe collective noun for Rooks is a Storytelling\, so it follows that the collective noun for Storytellers must be a Rookery. Storytellers at every level\, from fledglings to old crows are invited to join our Rookery every month at A4 sounds to swap stories\, develop their craft and find community in an inclusive and accessible environment that centres the queer and the disabled. This tradition and this art was once the province of the marginalised\, who now find ourselves excluded all too often\, join us in reclaiming it. \nFormat\nThis is an experimental space and we will play with the format until the right fit emerges. We’ll do our best to make the room feel cosy and informal\, no stage and comfy seats. \nAt the beginning of the event those interested in telling a story can add their name to the list at the front desk. There will be approximately six slots each session. Each slot will be 10 minutes-ish. \nAfter some pre-chats in our garden\, story time will start! You’ll be invited to get comfortable in our gallery and our host Hog and Dice will facilitate the evening. \nAfter an introduction from our host\, each of the six storytellers will share their stories with the group. When everyone has shared their stories\, Hog and Dice will close the evening and then we can return to our outdoor garden for drinks and refreshments! \nThere are no set themes for each session. \n\nEvent Page\n \nOrganisers\nLisa Crowne\nIndigo Woolfrey\nHog & Dice\n\n\nAdd to calendar \n  \n\nGoogle Calendar\niCalendar\nOutlook 365\nOutlook Live\n\n\n\n\nFacility Training | Darkroom w/Lucy | 19th & 26th Feb 16:00-19:00 | A4 Darkroom \n\n\n« All Events \n\n\n	Related

It could be related to their usual area of expertise or it could be their current side-quest down the rabbit hole network. \nWeek Three: You can get a radio licence!\n Getting on the airwaves as a radio amateur sending Morse code or voice to other radio amateurs in the modern day is perhaps an obscure hobby\, but the licence process is open to everyone. Today you’ll learn all the steps to try it yourself\, if you are interested. Intended to be accessible to anyone with the mildest interest in what amateur radio is (it’s not pirate radio!) or how to get into it. This presentation will bring you along with James’ experience and is not intended to be an exhaustive or absolute reference to anything. \n Event Page\n \nOrganisers\n\n	Lisa Crowne\n\n	Indigo Woolfrey\n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n \n\n\n	Google Calendar\n\n\n	iCalendar\n\n\n	Outlook 365\n\n\n	Outlook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Facility Training: Tufting w/ Niamh Coffey	\n\n\n	\n I forgot anteaters exist: EVOLUTION \n\n\n\n\n	« All Events \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:UNCERTAIN ETHNOGRAPHERS: short films from Southeast Asia
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \nUNCERTAIN ETHNOGRAPHERS: short films from Southeast Asia\nCurated by Dini Adanurani & Bảo Hân\nEmergency fundraiser in aid of Southeast Asia Floods Relief\nDate & Time:\n11 December\, 2025\n@\n7:00 pm\n–\n9:00 pm \nCategories:\nEvent\, WOWTE | Public Programme \nAbout\nIt’s not easy to disentangle the web of culture that weaved through the Southeast Asian region. Here\, ways of living and beliefs are continuously displaced by and merged with new ones\, escaping the simplicity of Western nation-state boundaries. Lands are fertile yet unstable\, inviting natural disasters as well as continuous extraction and political contestation at the expense of the people. Setting off to interrogate the cultural artefacts and memories that stubbornly remain in their fractured present\, our filmmakers divest from the colonial ways of establishing authority of knowledge over their subjects. These films propose creative speculations based on correspondences\, close reading of archives\, mythologies\, to oral history and lived narratives. \nThis program is a curated collection of short films by contemporary Southeast Asian artists\, focusing on themes of colonialism\, land\, and the ethnographic gaze. While the curators initially planned it to address the significant underrepresentation of Southeast Asian art in Dublin’s cultural scene\, its purpose has now become critically urgent. In direct response to the devastating natural disasters that have recently struck the Philippines\, southern Thailand\, central Vietnam\, and western Indonesia\, this event has been transformed into a fundraising initiative. All donations collected will go directly to vetted relief efforts in these affected regions. \nTickets & Donation\nPlease note this is a fundraiser event and there is a cover charge for members to attend. \nThere is a tiered ticketing system in place with the lowest ticket costing €7.00. \n100% of income* received from the purchase of tickets will go directly to vetted relief efforts in these affected regions. \nIn addition to ticket sales we encourage everyone who can to make an additional donation at the time of booking or on the night of the event to help raise as much funds as possible. \nCan’t attend but would love to support? Please purchase a solidarity ticket and/or make a donation via our shop! \n\nEvent Page\n \nOrganisers\nLisa Crowne\nIndigo Woolfrey\nDini Adanurani & Bảo Hân\n\n\nAdd to calendar \n \n\nGoogle Calendar\niCalendar\nOutlook 365\nOutlook Live\n\n\n\n\nGallery Visit | Alan Butler: Assets | Green On Red Gallery | Dublin | Thurs 11th Dec 4pm \n\nI forgot anteaters exist: YOU CAN GET A RADIO LICENCE \n\n\n« All Events \n\n\n	Related

This looks like it’ll be an interesting show! \nMermaid Arts Centre closes at 4pm so myself and Lisa will be leaving the studio at 12pm to make our way there – you’re welcome to make the journey with us if you’ll be headed from this direction\, or if you’d prefer to meet us at the gallery\, we’ll probably get there for around 1:30pm. RSVP below if you’re interested in coming along. \nWhat does it mean to decolonise the garden? \nSelected works by Irish\, Spanish and British artists consider the effects and legacy of colonialism\, horticulture and the garden as a status symbol\, inviting the audience to explore radical post-colonial horticultural practice and histories. \nImbued with notions of displacement\, class\, exile\, invasion\, appropriation\, theft and hunger\, the history of gardening and horticulture on the island of Ireland and beyond contains the very recipe of colonisation\, from the plantations of both people and forests to the introduction of monoculture food and cash crops. \nSamantha Brown (UK)\, Padraig Cunningham (IRL)\, Grace Enemaku (IRL)\, Yvanna Greene (IRL)\, Louis Haugh (IRL)\, Marianne Keating (IRL)\, Elida Maiques (ES)\, Siobhan McGibbon (IRL)\, Laura Ní Fhlaibhín (IRL) and Harold Offeh (UK)\nCurated by Elida Maiques and Anne Mullee \nJOINING US?\nGallery Visit RSVPPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. \n\nName *\nFirstLast\n\nComing?\n\nYES!\n\n\n \nSubmit \n\n \nMermaid Arts Centre\nAddress:\nMain St\, \nBray\,\nWicklow\nA98 N5P1\nIreland\n+ Google Map \n\n \nOrganizers\nRachel Naughton\nLisa Crowne\n\n\n\nA4 ARTIST TALK SERIES | KAT LALOR | WED 13TH AUG 18:30-19:30 | ONLINE \n\n\n\n\n	Related

Interested in a day trip to see some art? Join us! \nWe’ll be getting the 9:25 train down from Heuston\, and will get the 19:25 train home. There’s quite a lot to see as work is spread through multiple venues (map below)\, so feel free to wander off and see the bits that interest you most\, and pop back in whenever suits. \nPlease RSVP below so we can gauge interest. \n… \nThe Salvage Agency considers the agency and role of art in contemporary ecology and environmental action. Curator Michele Horrigan notes “Galway\, on the edge of the northeast Atlantic\, is a unique location for a heightened awareness of what is at stake. Explorations of landscape\, seascape and nature\, public space\, colonial history\, political structures\, the industrial complex and folk narratives are all pertinent. These are paths taken by our collective society in the shaping of today’s world and a contemporary Europe. Can art create an undercurrent of improvisation and frugality\, haphazard formality\, and change to offer new perspectives\, provocations and empathy? From the wreckage\, can art nourish a new reality?” \nThe 22nd edition of TULCA is realised in venues throughout Galway city and county\, including Galway City Museum\, Zoology and Marine Biology Museum\, The James Mitchell Geology Museum\, Galway Arts Centre\, 126 Artist-run Gallery\, Galway Civic Trust\, University Gallery\, Pálás Cinema and more off-site venues to be announced. \nJOINING US?\nGallery Visit RSVPPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. \n\nName *\nFirstLast\n\nComing?\n\nYES!\n\n\n \nSubmit \n\n \nLinks\n\nBOOK TRAIN\n\n\nBOOK BUS\n \nDetails\nTrain from Heuston to Galway: 9:25 (arriving 11:53)\nMeeting Point: 9:10 Heuston Station \nTrain from Galway to Heuston: 19:25 (arriving 22:09)\nMeeting Point: 19:10 Galway station \nIf you are arriving/departing on an alternative route and wish to join the group – text me on 089 479 6046 and we can let you know our whereabouts. \n\n \nOrganizers\nRachel Naughton\nLisa Crowne\n\n\n\nMembers Social | Movie Night: Spirited Away | Tues 12th Nov 18:30 | A4 Sounds Gallery \n\nMember Led Life Drawing (clothed) | Tuesday 19th November 7 – 8:30 \n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Gallery Visit | 'When The Body Says Yes' | Melanie Bonajo at Imma
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n \n\n	Gallery Visit | ‘When The Body Says Yes’ | Melanie Bonajo at Imma\n\n	Date & Time:\n 15 August\, 2024\n @\n4:00 pm\n –\n5:30 pm \n\n	Categories:\n Exhibition & Site Vists\, Member Support\, Professional Development Programme\, Socials\n \nABOUT\nWhen the body says Yes  is an immersive video installation by Melanie Bonajo (they/them)\, a queer non-binary Dutch artist\, filmmaker\, sexological bodyworker\, and somatic sex coach and educator. The installation\, originally commissioned by the Mondriaan Fund for the Biennale Arte 2022\, is part of the artist’s ongoing research into the current status of intimacy in our increasingly alienating\, commodity-driven world. For Bonajo\, touch can be a powerful remedy for the modern epidemic of loneliness. \nThrough their videos\, performances\, photographs and installations\, Bonajo examines current conundrums of co-existence in crippling capitalistic systems\, and address themes of eroding intimacy and isolation in an increasingly sterile\, technological world. \nThey research how technological advances and commodity-based pleasures increase feelings of alienation\, removing a sense of belonging in an individual\, and their works present anti-capitalist methods to reconnect\, explore sexualities\, intimacies and feelings. Their experimental documentaries often explore communities living or working on the margins of society\, either through illegal means or cultural exclusion\, and the paradoxes inherent to ideas of comfort with a strong sense for community\, equality\, and body-politics. \n \n \nCOMING ALONG? The generative video takes a narrative cinematic journey following the course of an imagined river from a forest stream\, through an industrial plant\, and a port metropolis at the ocean’s edge. The video’s content and its score\, performed ‘live’ in the space by a Disklavier (MIDI-controlled player piano)\, is unique each time it is experienced. Significant aesthetic\, auditory and structural elements of the work are directly influenced by changes in localised live external data from the ‘real world’ (atmospheric conditions\, air and water quality). In this exhibition\, data will be drawn from local monitoring sites at Dublin Port\, to deliver context-specific image/data variations.Rivers are a recurring analogy for the passage of time in history and across societies\, and ‘dream sequence’ is an exploration of the perception of time and reality. Pattison proposes that the act of dreaming is a subconscious analogy of virtual metaverses and a transgressive escape from a hostile reality.” \n\n\n\n\n\nLiliane Puthod – ‘Beep Beep’\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Liliane Puthod’s Beep Beep is a large-scale immersive artwork consolidating her research on handmade and mechanised production\, commodity fetishism\, and the archaeology of consumerism. \n\n\n\nTwo embellished shipping containers hold precious cargo: a 1962 Renault 4 (R4) car reanimated by the artist from her late father’s dusty shed in her hometown in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. For many years\, the car sat idle among a jumbled assortment of other objects that were initially discarded: bikes\, lamps\, ashtrays\, tools\, machine parts\, camera equipment\, piles of scrap metal\, ladders\, and countless other everyday artefacts amassed by Puthod’s father with the optimism that they may have a second chance at a life of use.” \n\n\n\n\n\nSiobhán McGibbon – ‘Netflix and Disintegrate into Nothing and Everything’ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The exhibition transports viewers into the world of Xenophon\, where they will encounter the Xenothorpians\, a fluid species that commune and mutate with living and non-living entities to adapt to the Anthropocene. Their hybridisations provide a backdrop from which new stories emerge- a tongue-in-cheek approach to the problem of humans. This new chapter is a multi-species romance told in three parts. \n\n\n\nThe sculptural installation; Netflix and Disintegrate into Nothing and Everything (part 1)\, is an invitation to engage in intimate relations\, beyond the species and the sexual. The title refers to a popular euphemism for sexual activity while alluding to the steaming hot togetherness of compost. The work is driven by the question of queer multispecies desire\, can loving beyond protocol result in more relational choices that disrupt human-centred practices in the garden. \n\n\n\nTo re-think garden relations this love story broadens sexuality to include how we inhabit and interact. The project positions the unkempt; weeds\, hedgerows\, and meadows as queer sites of desire where gender-bending cohabitors embrace diversity and fluidity\, and rhizomes disrupt normative reproduction. Counter to this are the manicured\, weeded\, overgrazed\, cropped sites controlled & depleted by human desire”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganisers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n	Related

It bleaches or enhances colour\, it focuses attention and strains the eyes\, it is simultaneously nourishing and draining; it expresses a multitude of contradictions that elevate and impede closeness and connection. In her new film\, ‘Approx 1 Second of a Sweet Kiss’ (2023-24)\, Lisa Freeman\, draws on natural light’s influence on psychological positivity\, patterns and focus. The film begins with an awakening\, the soft vibration of a phone call in a room lit with the bright glow of summer sunshine. The call is answered by a young woman who relays her experience of a personal dilemma\, and tells of how the artificial lights at home have been fizzing and flashing\, a hint that an energy imbalance is affecting her luck and connectivity to others. As the woman opens the apartment’s balcony doors\, the sound of a bustling city square fills the room and she immediately falls into a state of relaxation. \n\n\n\n‘Approx 1 Second of a Sweet Kiss’ follows the woman\, the film’s protagonist\, as she makes her way through an unfamiliar city. During the course of a day\, she meets several people with their own sets of expectations and forms of communication. The film uses elements of holiday suspense or ‘sunshine noir’ genres to convey psychological drama\, but rather than the protagonist succumbing to a situation of horror or dread\, her encounters are acts of kindness and openness from strangers in a place away from home. These gestures appear unnerving\, even to the woman\, as there is an expectation of hostility and confrontation in this urban landscape. Freeman reclaims a sense of tenderness and generosity in the civic space\, which is a development of her recent works that also address gaps in emotional and verbal interaction (‘Slipped\, Fell and Smacked my Face on the Dance Floor’\, 2022)\, and social isolation in the public realm (‘Hook\, Spill\, Cry Your Eyes Out’\, 2022). Rejecting the desire for idyllic escapism\, Freeman instead proposes intimacy as a method of resistance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNAMACO – MEGA DREOILÍN \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“A committee of vultures sweeps the Dublin sky. Composed of landlords\, investment funds and the political juggernaut known as Fianna Gael\, they pursue a bloodthirsty quest to dominate all land and wealth\, leaving death and destruction in their wake. \n\n\n\nBut unknown to them\, an underground force unfolds its wings. Foretold by the Ancient Celts as An Dreoilín or Draoi éan – druid bird – the tiny wrens emerge as a fearless foe. \n\n\n\nAs main character Em (they/them)\, you must battle landlords\, Gardaí and vultures across four Dublin-based levels. But can you uncover the Mega Dreoilín\, an ancient energy field within yourself and your allies\, in order to face your final adversary?” \n\n\n\nNAMACO emerges from a decaying Dublin to unleash bizarre edutainment products on unsuspecting landlords. Headed by Han Hogan and Donal Fullam\, NAMACO makes video games that demystify housing precarity\, cultural space scarcity and the effects of corporate landlordism in Dublin for a generation of renters unwillingly trapped in adolescence. Featuring a cast of characters which includes Avril Corroon\, Ian Lynch and Rory Hearne\, Mega Dreoilín posits that Ireland’s age-old land question is not as complicated as our political representatives would have us believe. \n\n\n\n16-bit video game Mega Dreoilín is a radical reimagining of edutainment designed for the demographic of ‘Generation Rent’. Positioning itself as a revolutionary instructional manual\, Mega Dreoilín allows players to learn about the bureaucratic land dominance imposed on Ireland by successive waves of colonisers\, landlords and global multinationals\, as well as the strategies required for collective resistance against these sinister powers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganisers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related
