Debbie Jenkinson

My name is Debbie Jenkinson and I’m an Irish illustrator and comic-maker.

I love sequential art: how we use narrative to understand the world we live in is endlessly fascinating to me.

I am the creator of the comic REMORSE, which was completed in April this year, and is for sale online here as well as on Comixology here. This summer I finished The Yellow Planet, a comic about cosmic yearning and I fear, an auto-bio comic about the everyday fears that lurk around every corner. I was the artist on story Gone in the anthology Girls Like You, by Kerrie Smith and provided a pin-up for an anthology by Stache Publishing called Out of the Blue 2, Around the campfire.

I provide illustrations and storyboards to clients, most recently storyboards for UX design for JCPenney, and deliver creative drawing sessions to people and companies in Dublin, for instance, Google. I am part of Stray Lines, a collective that promotes comics, publishes anthologies and organises comic events in Dublin, like The Comics Lab, which meets every second Tuesday of the month in The Liquor Rooms in Dublin 2. (Join us!)

I am a member of Illustrators Ireland, and a panelist on the Dublin Council Artists’ Panel.

I do live-sketching, capturing events on paper as they happen, and creating mementos for guests on the spot, most recently for LINGO, the Spoken Word Festival in October and a NTMA brainstorming session this January.

I have so many ideas burning a hole in my pocket; at the moment I am working on a story called Ghosting, alongside some collaborative projects.
