This guy appeared through the doors of A4 Towers over the Christmas holidays with photographer Liezl Erasmus and an impressive array of costumes. The photo-shoot was for the upcoming debut album release from the artist, ‘Masterkinder: Rainbows of my Mind’ which will be early available this year on Boy Scout Audio.
You can download ‘Bubbles’ Journey Through the Dreamtime in the meantime while waiting!

We at A4 Towers want to open up our space so that more people have access to our facilities. As a result, we are rolling out a new type of membership starting Feb 1st, if you are interested please get in touch A4SOUNDS at gmail dot com or via our contacts page.
A4 Towers membership will include:
- Access to our facilities which include a workshop, a darkroom, screen-printing facilities, desk space, woodworking tools, and an electronics bench. Members can book time on tools from 10am – 10pm, Thursday to Sunday each week..
- Opportunities to exhibit work and take part in organising events
- Opportunities to hold workshops and classes in the space
- Reduced rates for taking part in training workshops and classes
- Access to the online A4 forum to collaborate with other artists, musicians, etc.
Numbers will be restricted to a maximum of 30 people, to ensure that each member can get access to the facilities. Membership will cost €50 per month, which is very cheap compared to other art spaces in Dublin, but will help us to cover the costs of materials, bills, rent and buy new equipment. A4 Sounds is a non-profit organisation, and our main aim with this new membership is to build a community around the space and get a buzz going. We hope that this will lead to more collaboration between creative people in Dublin, as well as more play-dates!
If you are interested in becoming a member we are holding a public information meeting Thurs 17th at 7.30pm at A4 Towers, 19 Mountainview Avenue, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W. Please RSVP to A4SOUNDS at gmail dot com.
If you need help getting here send us an email and we’ll tell you the best route. Buses which go near by are 9,16, 49, 83. You can also get 15 to Rathmines and it’s a 10 minute walk.
A4 Sounds and Satellite Studios would like to invite you to Stitch ‘n’ Glitch Workshop no. 2 (hosted at Satellite Studios)
Andrew Healy launched his new open source software application ‘Stitch ‘n’ Glitch’ last month with a workshop at Satellite Studios. We really wanted to have another one and invite friends from both studios to join us, so here it is!
About Stitch ‘n’ Glitch:
The software (created with Processing) turns images into glitches and then forms a printable template for cross stitch embroidery. It is available as an executable file for Windows, Linux and Mac.
If you don’t know how to cross stitch and would like to learn we will show you on the night too!
Stitch ‘n’ Glitch explores the aesthetic possibilities of combining
the random “glitch” technique with the laborious practice of
cross stitch embroidery.
–“Taking something that has been praised for its perfection and creating a program to perfectly create the right imperfections. Fascinating.” – prostheticknowledge.
Materials will be provided! Just bring an image on a memory stick or a laptop with images on it (so you can use the application yourself).
Price 5 euro
To book a place please email satellitestudiosireland (at) gmail (dot) com.

A4 Sounds and Satellite Studios
We have one Resident Member space available at A4 Towers from Feb 1st. If you are interested you can drop us a line at A4SOUNDS@gmail.com or our contact page
We are looking for an energetic individual who is interested in artist led spaces and the possibilities for collaboration they offer. Unfortunately we are not looking for individuals who solely want to concentrate on their own practice, we are looking for an individual who wants to learn and take part in the running and development of the studio and A4 Sounds. We are a multi-disciplinary studio and invite applications from a wide range of “artists” whether you work in education, engineering, computer programming, curation, music, tv, electronics, fine art or design etc it doesn’t matter, as long as you have a keen interest in collaboration and co-operatively run spaces.
Some info about us and the studio:
Resident membership of the studio is based on shared responsibility for the upkeep and running of the space, and involvement in group shows, collaborative projects and proposals. Our current members come from a range of backgrounds including visual art, music, engineering, education and community based work.
“The mission of the A4 Sounds art collective is to foster multidisciplinary collaboration, curate innovative participatory art events and broaden engagement through community arts education. The purpose of the ‘A4 Towers’ workspace is to act as a base for these group activities, as well as a resource for individual members to develop their professional practice.”
Have a look here for info about our facilities.
To apply please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with a statement of interest, (why you want to join A4 Towers specifically), artist cv and a few examples of your work (jpgs, pdf, or link to online portfolio). Application is based on interview and committee decision.
The milk’s gone bad at A4 Towers! Our fridge broke a while ago and we have been using this little guy (thanks Rita) since.
We really need a big one again so our artists can keep living keep costs down and eat healthy food while working in the studio. Unfortunately we can’t afford to buy a new one at the minute so are depending on the good nature of the masses to provide for us. If you have a fridge you are throwing out or one that’s taking up space you can donate, please get in touch at a4sounds at gmail dot com. If you know anyone that may help us out please forward/share this info.
